fu un evento epocale nella storia del pensiero ecologico. In tale opera la Carson espone ed analizza i danni arrecati all\u2019ambiente e alla salute umana dal massiccio uso del <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualgrafika.com\/infografiche-pearson\/ddt\/\">DDT<\/a> e dei vari antiparassitari ed esamina il rapporto dell\u2019uomo con la natura criticando l\u2019idea di un progresso scientifico illimitato e senza restrizioni. Il romanzo si apre con una favola: <em>C\u2019era una volta un villaggio nel cuore dell\u2019America dove tutta la vita sembrava scorrere in armonia con l\u2019ambiente circostante. Il villaggio si stendeva al centro di una scacchiera di prospere fattorie, tra campi di grano e colline coltivate a frutteto dove, in primavera, le bianche nuvole dei fiori appena sbocciati spiccavano sul verde dei prati. Poi un influsso maligno pervase la zona, ed ogni cosa cominci\u2000 a cambiare. Sulla popolazione si abbatt\u00e8 una diabolica magia.
